Good Law successfully represented sole proprietorship VAPA Trading in its dispute with wholesaler King Food Products (King), to whom the continued marketing of the Suriname-origin spice mix ARVA SPICES was banned by summary judgment.
VAPA Trading has been appointed by producer AVRA SPICES Suriname as the exclusive distributor in the Netherlands and Europe of the ARVA SPICES spice mix and trademark holder of the EU and Benelux figurative marks ARVA SPICES.

Carja Mastenbroek: ‘As trademark owner, VAPA Trading has the right Fcopyrightincluding the unauthorised import and marketing of products bearing signs identical or similar to the ARVA SPICES trademarks from outside Europe.’
On 18 March 2022, the judge in summary proceedings ruled that King’s trade in ARVA SPICES imported from Suriname infringed the ARVA SPICES trademarks of VAPA Trading and prohibited the said trade, ordering King to pay the costs of the proceedings.
