Since the corona pandemic, the number of counterfeit products coming to the Netherlands from outside the European Union has been increasing dramatically. This was pointed out by television programme Radar.

Since the corona pandemic, the number of counterfeit products coming to the Netherlands from outside the European Union has been increasing dramatically. This is partly due to the rise of dropshipping webshops, which sell on platforms such as Bol.com, Amazon and Chinese companies like Aliexpress and Wish. But not only webshops sell counterfeit products; regular shops also occasionally carry counterfeit goods.

A lawsuit by sports brand Puma against Kruidvat is currently pending. According to Puma, Kruidvat sold counterfeit Puma socks. Kruidvat has previously been taken to court for selling Havaiana flip-flops. According to Kruidvat, those were not fake Havaianas, but slippers not intended for the European market.

Clear difference in quality

As for the lawsuit, Puma discovered the counterfeit socks in Kruidvat by accident. An intern from a law firm specialising in cases involving counterfeit products found out.

Good Law agitates against counterfeit products whenever possible. Because property should be respected.
